Today I found out I don’t have cancer.
I cannot begin to explain the relief that I felt when I received my pathology report this afternoon. There were a whole lot of other terrible things happening inside my body but, thankfully, cancer was not one of them. I cried (obviously) (a lot), and felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. I felt like I could finally breathe after holding my breath for so long. My family hasn’t had much good news in the past 6 weeks. Truth be told, we’re a bit of a mess on the medical front. Today, for the first time in a long time, we received a little bit of good news.
With all the breathing again and the relief-crying, I went out onto the porch for some fresh air. I have never felt better in my life and I wanted a picture to remind myself how that moment felt.
When I see this picture, I’m going to remember the snow underfoot. I’m going to remember the chill in the air and the warmth from the sun. I’m going to remember the blue sky I haven’t seen in days (literally and metaphorically).
And I’m going to breathe.

Yay!
